This cluster was discovered by Giovanni Hodierna sometime before
1654. This cluster is some 4,100 light-years away from us, and
approx 14 light-years across. Astronomers count at least sixty family
members to this cluster and according to Wikipedia, it is very similar
to the Pleiades cluster(M45) and would be about as bright as M45, if it
were the same distance as its better known cousin.
This cluster shows the classic open cluster look. As you can see
this cluster has quite a few young stars associated with it making it I
really enjoy looking at this one.
